Allergy Testing

Pet allergies are the most common cause for “hot spots”, itching and skin infections in pets. Allergies usually begin at 1-3 years of age and can progress in severity as time goes by. Sensitivities may occur toward a large number of sources including in indoor and outdoor allergens as well as food ingredients in some cases. We are now able to determine with greater ease and accuracy the types of allergens that may be affecting your pet with a simple blood test drawn in an office visit. This type of allergy testing has been shown to be equally effective , much more convenient and less costly than classic skin testing, previously the only method available. Once the offending allergens are identified, avoidance can be attempted and an allergy vaccination can be formulated to reduce your pet’s sensitivity.
