Ya Rote, DVM

Dr.Yaya Rote holds a B. S. in Biology from Yunnan University in China, and a Master's Degree in Animal Behavior and Animal Welfare from the University of Edinburgh, UK. She is a 2010 graduate of Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her internship at Angell Memorial Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. She also worked as a researcher on great apes in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, and Malaysia. Prior to joining Valley Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Rote worked as an Associate Veterinarian at the Cheshire Animal Hospital in Keene, New Hampshire and as an Emergency Veterinarian at the Maine Veterinary Referral Center in Scarborough, Maine. Dr. Rote’s professional interests include internal medicine, chronic disease management, surgery and ultrasound.
Dr. Rote lives in Amherst with her husband Daniel, their son Leo and their dog Finch. When not at work, Yaya enjoys running, hiking, skiing, gardening and knitting.
